The plumbing system is one of the most important systems in a home or building – any blockage or leak in the water pipes may cause damage that requires serious repairs, which can be extremely costly.
In order to minimize the risk of damage, plumbing maintenance should be performed regularly. Comprehensive maintenance of a plumbing system involves some or all of the following:
- Inspection of all exterior valves, including hose bibs and main shutoff
- Confirming updated backflow inspection, if applicable
- Visual inspection of water heater tank
- Checking isolation shut-off valves
- Testing continuity of elements and voltages
- Visual inspection of gas lines, burner assembly, and recirculation pump
- Inspection and testing of all faucets for proper operation, leaks, and wear
- Testing of PSI/water pressure in home
- Flushing all toilets to check for proper operation and inspect their mechanical parts
- Inspection of all water lines and drain lines for leaks and/or corrosion
- Inspection and testing of all angle stops and supply lines
- Testing of all drains for flow and possible maintenance issues
- Recording and quoting all required repairs
