Preventive maintenance is an important part of maintaining the health and longevity of a plumbing system and can save you money in the long run. John C. Comprehensive maintenance of a plumbing system involves some or all of the following:
- Inspection of all exterior valves, including hose bibs and main shutoff
- Confirming updated backflow inspection, if applicable
- Visual inspection of water heater tank
- Checking isolation shut-off valves
- Testing continuity of elements and voltages
- Visual inspection of gas lines, burner assembly, and recirculation pump
- Inspection and testing of all faucets for proper operation, leaks, and wear
- Testing of PSI/water pressure in home
- Flushing all toilets to check for proper operation and inspect their mechanical parts
- Inspection of all water lines and drain lines for leaks and/or corrosion
- Inspection and testing of all angle stops and supply lines
- Testing of all drains for flow and possible maintenance issues
- Recording and quoting all required repairs
